The Goldoni Theatre is the youngest heir in the exceptional theatrical season Venice experienced between the 17th and 19th centuries. The theatre was built in the 1720s on the wishes of the Vendramin family. In 1752, the Theatre managed to engage Carlo Goldoni, at the time considered the city's most important playwright, a position threatened only by the fame of the conservative Gozzi. Point of reference for the cultural life of Venice, it was named after Carlo Goldoni in 1875 and is today the home theatre of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto. Activities and services The prose season at the Goldoni Theatre is characterised by the constant quest for quality, attempting to combine the avant-garde and tradition. The Goldoni is also open to all those wanting to bring a particular atmosphere back to life, offering a chance to organise concerts, presentations and conferences, but also fabulous dinners right on the theatre's stage, a dream occasion to breath in the atmosphere of 18th century Venice. Location The Theatre is in the centre of the city near Campo San Luca, just a few minutes from Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco. It can be easily reached in just a few minutes from the Rialto landing stage.
